Sujith Kumar G.S. Mandya:

Riding along the streets of Mysore, as an art student at Shree Kala Niketana School of Art, what haunted the imagination of Sujith Kumar was not the magnificent palace or the people moving without any hurry along the crowded streets of the laid-back city. Sure, he would sketch monuments and human faces to his heart’s content but rather than the beauty and solitude of humans it was the cycles and auto rickshaws that provoked Sujith’s imagination, thus kindling his creative power. “Cycle is a dream and a carrier of life for the rustic Indian middle class. Every time I look at the same cycle it appears to be a new one to me; in a way it is the cycle of life…” he says. “I can’t see any humanity in city life, there is no peace…. It’s all rat race, but in villages you see the real humanity living in peace…” In a way Sujith talks about going back to nature with his tiny images of cycles. Sujith Kumar’s “Traffic City” is a clever composition depicting in an abstract way the chaos of traffic in the city. The black lines are strong and cross hatched throughout the composition creating an abstract illusion of rush and mayhem. The use of a deep red adds to the title of the composition, though visually we cannot see the other elements, there seems to be a general feeling of unrest. All his compositions focus on one main theme and color and his excellent linear quality depicts the theme. “As a student in Mysore it was a routine for me to draw people, places and objects to my heart’s content,” says this young artist. “My concern had always been to create an object with minimum strokes.” Sujith’s cycle is riding back to nature. From the crowded city scapes to the lush green landscapes of serenity. It is a ride back to the never-ending green..

Short Run Book Printer Services for New Authors

Every new author is aware of the difficulties of getting their book printed. The top printing companies in the world don’t even look at budding authors if they are not exceptionally good. As a result most new authors are forced to get book printing done from elsewhere. And then they hope that their book will do well enough for the top publishers to take notice. But there is investment involved in this and it can be significant. There is a way out though. A short run book printer can help in this matter.

There is an inherent risk in self book printing. You don’t know how many copies of your book you should get printed. If you print too many but they don’t sell it’s massive loss of money for you. On the other hand if you print too few and the book starts selling like hot cakes then there is a shortage issue as well. But the second situation is much better because these days books can be printed very fast. And a brief shortage in the market will make people want your book all that much. When it hits the stands again the sales figures are bound to pick up once again.

You face problems when there is more supply than demand and this is where a short run book printer is so useful. The standard method of book printing is offset printing. This is a more cost effective method but here you need to print a large number of books. Short run printing is a process where you can get a smaller number of books printed. The cost of printing will be tad higher but then you will be able to gauge the response for your book and then consider the next course of action.

A short run book printer will use digital printing technology to print your book. The benefit of this form of printing is that there is no need to create those offset plates. Once you upload your book in PDF or some other approved format it can be digitally converted into a book. All the options of book printing are applicable to this form of printing – hard cover, colour printing and black and white printing and so on. You can even ask your short run book printer to create the artwork for your book.

There is a cost attached with what you intend to do and hence the recommendation is that you compare various short run book printing companies. Some of the book printers are able to give you an instant quote for your printing job. Once you have a few such quotes it is easier for you to make a decision. But yes, you shouldn’t just consider the cheapest short run book printer. There is the matter of quality to be kept in mind. Hence, you must strike a balance between quality and price. This is the best way to get your book printed in limited copies and then take the next decision.

Short Run Book Printing and Its Benefits

Those that want book printing in large quantities opt for offset printing. The printing quality is great and the cost per book is low. In this form of printing a printing plate is first prepared and the bulk printing is done using the plate. But not everyone wants to get huge numbers of books printed through the offset printing process. A short run book printer is someone that can print smaller number of books as per demand. Offset printing is not the process adopted here; digital printing is the technology that is used.

A short run book printer does printing as per your demand and this is the biggest benefit that they offer. Whether you are a budding author that wants a limited number of books printed or you want some reference material to be printed for some college project, short run book printing is the way to go. In this process of printing your material is directly transferred to the printer using digital technology and this means very fast turnaround time. There is no use of offset printing plates in this process. If you want to get books printed in limited numbers all you need to do is send a PDF format of your book and the printing can be done as per your requirement.

Book printing involves investing a lot of money. Blessed are those authors that get picked up by the large publication houses. They don’t need to worry about any cost because from the printing cost to the marketing cost – everything is managed by the publisher. But most new authors are not so lucky to be picked up by the big publication houses. Many of them have to get their books printed at their own cost and wait for a positive reception from the readers. Only after that can they expect to be noticed by the big boys of publishing. Approaching a short run book printer makes sense in this scenario because the investment is much lower. Moreover, there is no wastage of money because one doesn’t get burdened by piles of unsold books.

A short run book printer can offer printed books at a lower price because their setup cost is so low. Most of these printers are on the web and you can directly place your order online. They have specified online forms that you need to fill up to place your order. You are then asked to upload your document in the prescribed format. You can also choose to pick up your printed books or have your printed books delivered to you. Before you place your order you will get the exact cost of the project. And going online also helps in another way – you can compare short run book printing providers and their cost.

Don’t worry about book printing if you don’t have too much of a budget. A professional short run book printer can always be found. You place your order and they will ensure that your books are ready when you want them.
